I'm not sure how many of you saw the C-span coverage of Nader's rally in Minneapolis, but Micheal Moore made a very interesting observation. He said that 100 Federal Congressional seats were uncontested. He suggested that anyone in an uncontested district should write in the Ficus. He even had one on stage at the rally! He also said the Ficus gives us oxygen....when can we say that the politicians have done that?? What do you all think?? Shouldn't we write in the Ficus?? All humor aside, isn't it pretty sad commentary that we actually have 100 uncontested congressional seats??? Do the Republicrats really believe Americans want more of this nonsense??? Let's all join Micheal Moore and write in the Ficus!

This says to me that we Greens have got to some candidates out there, and take advantage of this situation to make ourselves and our platform known to the rest of the country. I don't think we're in as bad a situation as the Reform Party, but we cannot adopt the attitude that Ralph or whoever at the top is going to save the world for us. In order to become a real party we have to have real candidates. The first step is having people who can explain who we are to the general population. These uncontested seats are a great opportunity for this. |
