How is Ralph doing in the southern states? The reason that I have asked this, is because quite a few of those states are seen as Bush strongholds. This would be very true of Texas, and South Carilona. It would be very intresting to see how Nader does is those states. Can you think about how embressing it would be if Nader got many votes in Texas?

Well, Jim Hightower is a Texan, as you probably all know--and I have to believe that Ralph is accordingly getting good advice about whether and how to expend efforts in that state. I have wondered about the South as well--it seems that Ralph has a definite strategy, and it seems to be focused on the midwest "battleground" states. My belief is that this is due to the relatively high level of unionization in those states. Ralph made mention in his speech at the Seattle rally last night where two local unions broke with their nationals and voted to endorse his candidacy, that there would be more such announcements in the future...and he specifically said "UAW." So, my guess is that he has a pretty specific idea of what he's doing. Still, I hope that he can and will hit a few more of the states in the South once more. As with all candidates (even the rich ones), he has to make decisions about what to do with available funds: travel versus media versus other considerations.
